Volunteers

Safety is our biggest concern. This race couldn't happen without the help of all our volunteers. Each team is required to recruit 2 volunteers for a 4-6 hour shift, no matter the size of the team. Volunteers must be over 14 years old. If they are under 16 years old, an adult must accompany them. It is important to note that if teams do not register their volunteers or said volunteers do not show up for their shift, that team will be disqualified.

For Team Captains, finding a volunteer is just like finding your teammates. Just start asking and ask other teammates to do the same. Only 2 volunteers are required, but the more the merrier!!! Volunteers can request to be with other volunteers. We will do our best to honor all such requests. Volunteers can also request the time and location they would most prefer, although we would like your top 3. If it doesn't matter, than we will just fill in where needed. Please remember when asking for volunteers, that we have spots all day and night Friday and all morning and early afternoon for Saturday.

Volunteers, just like other teammates, are not allowed to bring pets, children, or alcohol while on the race course. Bringing these items will disqualify your team.

Volunteer Duties

Duties for volunteers may include directing runners, checking-in runners, timing portions of the race, logging teams and times, spotting or calling out the team arriving, directing race vehicles for entering exchanges and parking, keeping runners safe, etc.

Volunteer Swag

All volunteers will receive a race shirt, that they must wear during their shift. They will also receive a race medal.

Outstanding Volunteer Award

All teams will be taking notice of positive volunteers who go above and beyond the call of duty to make the relay that much better. The volunteer with the most votes tallied on the Team Time Sheet will become the "Most Outstanding Volunteer" at the awards ceremony. They will receive a prize!
