Lake Chase Relay Teams

Team Composition

Teams are composed of 1, 4 or 8 (or 10) runners and 1 – 2 volunteers.
  • Solo (1 runner)
  • Duo (2 runners)
  • Ultra (4 runners)
  • Regular (8 runners)
  • Regular +2 (10 runners)

Team Categories

  • Open (any combination of men and women)
  • Women (all runners must be women)
  • Men (all runners must be men)
  • Masters (all runners must be ages 40+)
  • High School (all runners must be 18 and younger)

The above categories are not available in every team composition. Depending on registration, some categories may have to be combined.

Solo

You are your own team! Special early start times will be given to solo runners. Solo runners are also required to have their own support team/crew. They must check in at each exchange. The support team must have a car and meet at every Vehicle exchange. Be sure your support crew has signed the participant waivers.

Duo

Your team consists of you and one other person. Duo runners may have a support crew with them also. They must check in at each exchange. The support crew must have a car and meet at every Vehicle exchange. The team car and support car should be one in the same for the Duo teams. Be sure your support crew has signed the participant waivers.

Ultra

Even though you are a team of only 4, runners must exchange at every exchange zone. You may switch up the order as needed.

Regular

Regular Teams consist of 8 people, each running approximately 12 – 18 miles. All runners will have the same team number pinned visibly on the front of them. You must run your assigned legs in order.

Regular +2

Regular +2 Teams consist of the normal regular team (8 runners), but you have the option to let 2 children or youth (ages 14 and under) run the first and last ½ mile. The kids will get a shirt and a finishing medal. They will also get their own slap bracelet to keep. Special Exchange zones will be set up for these teams at .5 miles and also .5 miles before the finish. What a great way to involve younger family members and to insure that you have people to cheer you on at the finish! For the regular 8 runners, you must run your assigned legs in order.

High School

All guidelines for the regular teams also apply to the high school teams. The only exception is that the High School teams may designate a driver (only 1 per vehicle), who is not participating in the event. Be sure the driver has signed a Participant Waiver. The majority of the entry fee for high school teams is underwritten by The Happy Valley Relay. The fee per team is $200 ($25 per participant)!

If you are 18 or under, you do not have to be on a high school team. You can register under one of the other categories.
