Where exactly is this race?
It is in Utah County, Utah. We will race all the way around Utah Lake.

What are the 2010 dates?
Race dates are May 21–22, 2010.

What are the starting times?
The race start times begin at 6 a.m. on Friday, May 21, 2010 at Lakeview Ball Park. Teams will start at different times throughout the day, seeded by your average 10k team times. For instance, if you have a really fast team, you may not start until Friday late afternoon, early evening.

How many teams are in each start?
That will depend on the number of teams that register. We will let you know when race registration closes.

What time will the race finish?
This will just depend on how fast your teammates are. The goal is to have all teams finished by 4 pm on Saturday, May 22nd.

Where does the race start?
The starting line will be at Lakeview Ball Park in Orem. The location is 1850 W 400 S. It is located west of Geneva Road.

Do both team vehicles need to be at the Start?
No, only Vehicle #1 needs to be at the Start. Vehicle #2 can meet up with Vehicle #1 at Exchange 4.

Where does the race end?
The finish line for the race is at Lakeview Ball Park (the same as the start).

What is the distance?
The Relay course is 130+ miles.

What is the course like?
This is subject to change, but for now: The course starts at Lakeview Ball Park, a detour through Lehi , travels around Utah Lake, along the Provo River Trail, up the Y mountain, before finishing back at the Lakeview Ball Park. The course is mostly flat, but there are a few surprises along the way, so don’t be caught off guard! The course maps will be available online (Spring 2010) so you can know your legs ahead of time.

Who is eligible to run?
Anyone! This race allows for a diversity of participants, from serious runners/walkers to casual teams out simply to enjoy the adventure. Participants under the age of 18, must have their parent’s or legal guardian’s written permission in order to participate.

How many members are on each team?
Each regular running team consists of eight runners. There are other team options, including: solo, duo, ultra, and regular +2.

How many teams are there?
??? This just keeps going up!

How many Legs are there?
The race consists of twenty-four (24) Legs. Each runner (on a regular team) is required to complete three (3) of the 24 legs.

How long is each Leg?
Each Leg ranges in distance from 3.0 to 8.5 miles. Legs vary in difficulty, from easy to very hard, due to the varying terrain.

Where can I find a team or find runners for my team?
We've created a forum on our website for this. It's a great way to find teammates, get on a team, and ask questions about the race from other participants.

Once registered how do I change our team name, add teammates, register volunteers or update pace times?
After a Team Captain registers (within 24 hours), they will be sent a link to their online team management. Here they will need to login and make these adjustments.

Does the race provide transportation to each leg?
No. The logistics of transporting hundreds of runners makes the cost prohibitive. Part of the fun is being together with your team!

How many vehicles will each team need?
That will depend on the size of your team. The plan is to have 2 vehicles per 8 person regular team. However, if you all choose to ride together that is up to you. We are working on getting a rental car discount for those who would like to rent a larger vehicle. Remember no motorhomes or trailers are allowed.

Does the race provide water?
No. Each team must provide their own water. Plan on needing a lot!

Do we have to pass a baton?
Yes. It’s actually a wrist baton (slap bracelet) that gets passed to the next runner inside the exchange zones.

Are the exchange zones marked?
Yes. There will be cones/barricades marking each zone. Each Exchange Zone will be marked with the zone number.

Are there bathrooms along the way?
Yes. There will either be restrooms or portable toilets at each Exchange Zone and the start/finish.

Does the Lake Chase have an official charity?
Many people have asked us to sponsor their favorite charities. As a twist and bonus for the overall winner’s Team Captain, they will get to choose which local charity the Happy Valley Relay Lake Chase will sponsor.

Will team names be censored?
We are all adults and we expect everyone to act responsibly. We want everyone to have a great time and to use good taste and demonstrate good judgment in the selection of team names.

Are shirts included in the entry fee?
Yes, if entry fee is received by April 15, 2010. Late entries, those that register April 16, 2010 – May 15, 2010 will get a shirt, but they will all get a size large. We will also have some extras on race day available for purchase at the start/finish line.

What if the shirt I received does not fit me?
While no exchanges are guaranteed, you can talk to the person at the shirt booth at the finish area, for a possible exchange. You may also post a message on the forum to see if someone would like to trade.

Can we purchase extra race garments?
Yes, extra shirts can be ordered at registration. Otherwise, you can check out the shirt booth at the race start/finish to see what they’ve got.

Does the Race have a Sponsor?

Will the Volunteers have a great time?
We sure hope so! If they come with the right attitude and proper gear, they will definitely have a great time.

Can I volunteer for race day?
Yes! You must be 14+ years old. The success of the race is dependent upon its volunteers. Teams are required to supply race volunteers, but you don’t have to be associated with a registered team to volunteer. Please email lakerelay@gmail.com informing of your desire to help and include your contact information and race day availability.

Are there any other activities before or after the race?
Yes! Entertainment and activities will be going strong. Included in the festivities are vendor booths & freebies, live music on stage, bounce houses for kids, as well as recognition and awards ceremonies. All weather permitting, of course.

Where are the results posted?
There will be a link on the home page of our website shortly after results have been verified.

Whom do I contact about possible errors in the results?
State and submit the error via the form on the contact page on our website.

I lost (found) something at the race. Where can I find (return) it?
Check the Lost & Found Box at the start/finish line. Also check the forum on the website for postings under Lost & Found.

Why didn't I receive a confirmation email after registering online?
If you gave a hotmail or yahoo address or have spam filters turned on, there is a possibility that the message was blocked. Other reasons may be general internet problems, high volume, worms, viruses, etc. To get a copy of the confirmation message please email lakerelay@gmail.com.

Our team can't participate after all. Can we get a refund?
Sorry, all race fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. This includes race cancellation due to any act of God or force of nature, including, without limitation, weather, fire, flood, civil commotion, riot or threat, or similar cause beyond the control of The Lake Chase.
